It will not work on Atomic.
In that case the info provided on the wiki is incomplete or outdated: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Xfce#Installation_for_Fedora_versions_prior_to_22
Got any advise for Atomic?

Silverblue is a special container-based distribution. All software must be install as flatpaks.

"At its core, it is a variant of the Fedora Workstation which uses rpm-ostree to provide an immutable OS image with reliable updates and easy rollbacks."

I would guess groups will come to rpm-ostree too, sometime in the future
Gnome is fantastic, I just wish It would enable to turn composition off so I could get little more performance for games ?

So you get containers for your distro and not just flatc*aps?
Thats disappointing.

rpm-ostree allows installing rpm packages. It just makes a new "image" and then you have to reboot into it. I love this because this means that I get newest packages with good stability, since if something doesnt work after reboot I can simply reboot into former "image"

Who ever invented the Picture verification bullshit must rot in hell. Along with those who implement that in their sites. How can you ever get that to work?.

We are talking about a thing that takes text in, colors it and can save it if changed.
And i dont want to bother with fixing, for each user, all "hey, we still send telemetry even if built without" problems - which need a per-user config to disable as well.
And in general, no single tool should send telemetry by default. Ask me, i may accept to share performance statistics or cleaned crashdumps - or give me a way to do it by hand. If you decide that for me not only do you violate my countries laws, you also make me hate your tool.

That should go under power management, and usually depends on the desktop you're using and system. Unless you install a program for it that I don't do in a decade or so.
Would you be so kind to be a bit more specific in your question, please?

Oh and the linux CoC has been reduced, the line for enforcement has been removed and they added a "how we interpret this document" document, effective 4.19.

Kohane
22.10.2018
18:56:09
Well, why not? People has to live on something and a big project needs a lot of time, and therefore funds.

Tobias?
22.10.2018
18:59:39
Uh? So they watered it down? Why?
Because of the public and internal debate and because the thing truly was over-reaching sjw stuff intended to kick maintainers that some disagreed with externally. Now they gave actual developers more time to input on changes and removed all enforcement and just watered it to "well, we want good communication that advances the project" and all cases reported will be laid open anonymously later on.
So they took the sjw parts right out of it and made sure the entire commitee as well as the maintainers have to come together to kick someone from development if they write good code but are otherwise rude on the mailing list.
