<b>aaron:</b> And remember, the manufacturer explicitly configured this. Even Linux doesn’t believe in locking you out of configuring your own device.

VVelox: Okay... to get the proper percentage, why do I need to divice pctcpu by 10 and then by 2?
VVelox: just working on writing a colorized version of ps and I can't seem to figure out why I need to do that to get the same info as shown in top for a proc.
aaron: No comments in the code?
VVelox: nope
VVelox: looking at ps and honestly not sure what is going on, my C aint good enought
<b>aaron:</b> I’m about to head out, but if you leave a link to the files, I can look later.

<b>aaron:</b> Speaking as someone who is very likely not the target market for these devices, there are a few things that it would take to get me off an iPhone.
1.) No interface lag. I don’t care what toolkit they settle on, I want a consistent 60fps in all apps and widgets. Scrolling shouldn’t stutter on a dual/quad/hexa core chip.
2.) Standard protocol support for email/calendar/contacts. It seems like someone finally taught Android about dav, but I want this built into the default applications.
<b>aaron:</b> I have a handful of other apps I use on mobile, but getting a native RSS reader that can hit the major services, and a todo app that can hit the major services would probably be enough for me.

<b>aaron:</b> VVelox: Maybe I’m looking at the wrong section of code, but I only see pctcpu being converted from a float to a fixed point. That’s a multiply by 100.0, no divide by 10, divide by 2.
VVelox: aaron: try it out.... multiplying by 100 results in it being even more off
<b>aaron:</b> VVelox: Then I’m definitely looking at a different piece of code than you, because ps.c is multiplying it by 100.0.
<b>aaron:</b> *print.c.
VVelox: aaron: take a look at the second thing
aaron: VVelox: Don’t have the code up, but you mean the one that tries to get percentage based on number of cores?
VVelox: talking about the Perl module
VVelox: it is pulling ki_pctcpu
VVelox: sorta suspecting it is a bug in how it is converting from the C value
<b>aaron:</b> VVelox: I looked through the perl, I didn’t actually see it doing anything with ki_pctcpu. It just seems to define it.
<b>VVelox:</b> hv_store(h, "pctcpu", 6, newSViv(kp->PCTCPU_FIELD), 0);
<b>aaron:</b> Which file is that in? I went poking around the tree and don’t remember that code.

<b>aaron:</b> Figured, I thought .xs was a documentation file or something and didn’t click it.
aaron: I’ll poke that later then. Makes more sense now, because that module looked a little sparse. :P
VVelox: Also does not seem to like trying to use unpack( 'l', $value ) on it... that results in undef most of the time... same for 'L'
VVelox: Working on writing a colorized version of ps with various additional features. So far this has been the one annoying bit.
