Follpvosten: Okay, thanks (tho i assumed things and have already turned it off by now)
Follpvosten: Virtualbox is only a workaround for now, i want to move most things to a jail at some point anyways
Quillasp: I should read and learn the jails chapter
aaron: .:VMS:. (Telegram): I use cvs and git. Git has nicer branching, and the command names are easier to remember. Not much difference otherwise.
Follpvosten: I had a little problem switching my server to FreeBSD, because the Virtualbox kernel module package is not compiled to work with the 11.1 kernel yet, so i had to install the port

Follpvosten: It works well, but since i want to avoid ports, this will probably speed up my migration to bhyve
aaron: What is wrong with ports? (Other than needing to read the man page?)
Follpvosten: I prefer packages because of the time savings, and i shouldn't mix both systems, i think
Follpvosten: iohyve/chyves or vm-bhyve or cbsd? Which one do you all prefer?
aaron: Ports builds packages, which are then installed and tracked through the normal pkg tools. There’s not any “mixing”. Just which source your pkg file comes from.
Follpvosten: Oh
Follpvosten: You're right
Follpvosten: I've read everywhere that i shouldn't mix those and that i need a specific build jail if i want to build packages or something, so i never looked into it, but i guess it's really that easy
Follpvosten: Thanks for the enlightenment
Follpvosten: My information was very old, it seems

Yeah, ports mostly just lets you change compile-time options. But it's still managed like any other package.
What you heard about sounds like the recommended use for poudrier
