I would just like ReactOS to support SMP.
Camarada Gato
How many machines with Celeron D, Pentium D, Athlon XP or Pentium 4 HT or 2 Pentiuns III would benefit from SMP.
Alisson
ReactOS website down? 🤔
Alejandro Jeditobe
Enemy down
Alexander
When ReactOS is ready for it, I will test it on an old Gigabyte server mainboard with dual Pentium III 😎
Mike
This would be great!!!!
Justinas
does your hardware still be alive after 100years, after it's "ready"?
Justinas
lol
Justinas
i not think so
Justinas
yes, but does it work after 100years?
Alexander
It does not matter because I do not "work" anymore in 100 years
Justinas
ok
Alexander
If ROS boots in 2021, my hardware will still be working
Alexander
And I have lots of possible test devices...
Thinkpad R50p
Thinkpad T420, X220, X230i, Yoga S1, Macbook 2008...

yes, but does it work after 100years?
We still don't have 100 years old digital hardware but old IBM mainframes can still be made to work, so I guess it will (with care and spare parts)

ReactOS this is a system!

I wonder to contribute something to ReactOS. But can I use something disassembled from Windows?(I never read the leaked source code from Microsoft.)
Anonymous
I am good at discover something with some static binary analysis tools.
Anonymous
I talk this to one of my friends. He worried about that.(He think it may illegal.)
Anonymous
So I ask that question to you.
rosbridge
<hbelusca> aka. reverse engineering.
Anonymous
Yes, it's reverse engineering.
Anonymous
I read the Windows binaries nearly everyday. And ReactOS helps me a lot.
Anonymous
So I want to contribute something in the legal way to express my thank.
Anonymous
Can I use the reverse engineering way to help? Is it clean room?
rosbridge
<hbelusca> depends from which country you are. For example it's OK in the european union, but in the USA it's extremely more strict.
rosbridge
<hbelusca> You should ask on mattermost' chat.reactos.org , channel "Development"
rosbridge
<hbelusca> (alternatively, on our #reactos-dev irc channel)

Thanks, I will ask.

<hbelusca> in the 21st century they mean... 'cause otherwise they were before just still caught in 20th century.
Alexander
No no, he really meant 20th century
Alexander
The point was/is that they are still in the 20th century, yes ;)
rosbridge
<hbelusca> @cahgentoo: just ask the linux guys ^^

I've seen this over 9000 times on different chats yesterday

It's a shame this doesn't contain cmd.exe
Chungy
conhost.exe is there though, which was introduced in Windows 7 to have a client/server type architecture and allowed the terminal client to actually have themes (uxtheme or aero) applied to it :P
Chungy
I haven't heard that, but it'd be excellent.

Wine's sucks. :P
Chungy
doesn't run a lot of *.bat or *.cmd files, doesn't have good history editing, or continuation. It's pretty minimal.

you will design your operating system interface in minimalism or will do something similar to this?

Mark
Yeah this happens often, when we implement something, wine all of a sudden also has an implementation
Stas'M
Indeed 🤔

btw. they have a bit different LZX decompression routines
