<BieHDC> why does our brother hate us?
https://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-devel/2018-November/134806.html
Lutrulo
Et tu, Wine?
Chungy
Wow. It's based on the rumors a decade ago that people took leaked Windows code and put it in ReactOS
Chungy
a very long audit showed that not to be the case.
Stas'M
Mark
No it is not
Mark
They don't like use of symbols or anything other than documentation
Stas'M
ReactOS 0.4.12 confirmed! 😏
Eris
rosbridge
<BieHDC> i dont, but someone i know who wants to contribute to wine is even afraid of looking at reactos source code so he does not get excluded from contributing to wine (due to their strict rules)
so i really do see an issue there
Stas'M
rosbridge
<BieHDC> well i explained and defended...but since julliard said so, they prefer to "stay safe"
Stas'M
One simple example in this case would be — many ROS devs are sending patches from ReactOS to Wine
Stas'M
and Wine accepts them

We must assert communism. Sadly as I see we only have .5 comrades. (I am half Russian)
Stas'M
(well, some of them, but some goes through review)
Alejandro Jeditobe
I know the way how to make wine-guys to use ReactOS code.
Alejandro Jeditobe
Eris
rosbridge
<BieHDC> well i told them as well that there is contributions from somedude@reactos.org and they found them, still not sure about it
maybe someone should talk with julliard about that some time, not that there builds up a bad wall between the projects
Mark
@jeditobe pay attn to open pr's;)

Vadim Galyant succeeded with running ReactOS with Windows drivers 😁

But can Windows run using ReactOS drivers. 🤔

THE ULTIMATE QUESTION
Benedict
Benedict
OH SHIT
I've needed that for so long in ReactOS
rosbridge
<Cernodile> too bad u still have to wait for a bit before it gets merged in master, currently it's not even pr'd and usually his PRs can take over half year up to year+ to merge.
rosbridge
<Cernodile> but amazing accomplishment still.
Eris
next goal: throw every basic windows xp/2003 driver into reactos and watch the world burn
Chungy
heh. I just used the "watch the world burn" phrase in IRC. Silly coincidence.
Eris
I blame g-man for that "coincidence"
Chungy
unforeseen consequences.

Microsoft is in the Embrace phase...

<Cernodile> ...and then extinguish

ReactOS 0.4.11 will ignite the process of world domination!
Jose
Eris
Victor
it was branched 2 days ago
Victor
release is usually in ~2 month
Alejandro Jeditobe
Eris
That's soon, almost
Alejandro Jeditobe
Personally, i count 0.4.11 as released already )
Alejandro Jeditobe
Because release now is only about regressions elimination )
Victor
huh, don't tell that to reactosfanboy)
Alejandro Jeditobe
Alejandro Jeditobe
Oh, hi Mark 😂

Stas'M
What's going on? 😏
rosbridge
<BieHDC> nothing since i cant compile reactos on arch 😦
Victor
arch is somewhat special?)
Anonymous
RosBE Unix won't install on it
Victor
have you installed all needed libs?
rosbridge
<BieHDC> idk, i dont bother trying rosbe on ubuntu
it should work out of the box since it ships everything by itself, but messes up somewhere
rosbridge
<BieHDC> yes
rosbridge
<BieHDC> and their 32bit counterparts as well
Victor
ok, and what's the error?
rosbridge
<BieHDC> cant access the system right now, but if you are willing to help me, i will drop in irc in about 2,5h
Victor
if you post the message, maybe I can help you)
Jeff
Chungy
RosBE is pretty out of date
Chungy
It'll be breaking on new Debian and Ubuntu too
rosbridge
<BieHDC> indeed, but i got around everything now. just asked on the irc if someone is maintaining it, otherwise i may give it a kick
Chungy
*nods*
Chungy
I think it is easiest to use an Ubuntu 12.04 chroot if you want to use it
rosbridge
<BieHDC> thats the best joke i have heard in ages
Chungy
It's not a joke
rosbridge
<BieHDC> if i have to chroot into ubunut, then i could also just continue to use my windows vm to compile
Chungy
a chroot is much lighter-weight and has all your system resources with no overhead :p
