I usualy try to install original binaries but only show a splash and nothing more happen, never continued the installation.

The official builds don't run as administrator, so I had to remove that check in the code :p

probably not a whole lot unless ReactOS decides to bundle .NET Core.

I doubt Microsoft is supporting anything older than Windows 7 either, so ReactOS probably has quite a bit of catching up before .NET Core could be integrated.

But this could be useful since it would allow to discover which system calls are needed to implement .net. Good morning!☺️

I honestly would not be surprised to see larger components of Windows open sourced in the near future, such as the kernel itself.

Also, we must not forget prism and nsagate scandals. So, I don't think they'll release the kernel, at least without some "cleaning"

probably a lot of it comes from DEC and other companies, I doubt Microsoft owns the whole copyright to Windows itself, even the kernel.

They seem to be making inroads toward that goal, but they haven't stated it.

They probably don't want to repeat Sun's mistake where they said "We'll open source Solaris!" and then took years to do anything more substantial than DTrace and ZFS (technologies that were known to be 100% in-house). Pretty much just because they needed to track down the copyright status of every component.

.NET is like those two, Microsoft knows they didn't contract anyone else to make it, thus able to just release it.
