How ? Only xorg ?
I used gui only for internet browsing and reading books in pdf.
And in terminal (tty) I used Emacs as Python and C/C++ IDE.

Sure, gnome on debian.
I cant use gnome because i dont understand the way to use it. For example dash to dock. It's a good idea but i cant right click on dash and move it where i want ? Panels are better to handle

Sometimes I wonder if this the question Oracle asks themselves about a new open source project they've purchased the rights to before taking a weed whacker to the community.

Hi, can I save on a text file the commands that are already saved in the terminal memory (up arrow)?

Jimmy

I don't understand what you mean by "in the terminal memory", but if you want to put the output of a command in a text file, you do echo $(command) > file.txt

Michał

default terminal would be bash

Jimmy
23.07.2017
15:32:10
using the shell, you could just do cp .bash_history history.txt

Jimmy

it is in your home directory
by default, if you open up a new terminal, that's where it is located

Matteo

15:33:39
Ctrl+h in file manager to see hidden files

Jimmy
23.07.2017

you could always add the path, so cp ~/.bash_history ~/history.txt

Once you go low level enough the documentation for other distros are relevant anyway (kernel options etc). I quite like using Arch Linux's wiki when researching hardware compatibility

Even I learned something from that one and it makes backups much easier, you don't have to use a command line

Jimmy

Justin

But the two articles that are published now cover the command line ways of doing it.
