There are addons that resume the download when something goes wrong.
You can mention an addon which download mp3 from video, u can mention another one which support resuming the download, but no way u could find one free tool which can do all these things together with on command line, it's matter of choice tho, u prefer GUI and that's totally understandable, everyone has his own preference

why not use alien to convert deb to rpm

Tobias?
14.07.2017
11:52:42
why not use alien to convert deb to rpm
Because alien is more a proof of concept and something that allows you to test if it would work basically

Tobias?
14.07.2017
11:52:54
You shouldnt use this in production to install actual software

And always, always try to avoid any .tar.gz, .run, .deb>.rpm or similar solution that doesnt use native rpm methods and capabilities

make a desktop file that holds the command and start that

Because, as with all electron apps, you can boot that thing from the cli

Diver

make a desktop file that holds the command and start that
For apps like this it's ok, but for packages that must be installed to system to work (libs or something), using alien is better than manually extracting and copying.

At least we can track these files and can easily remove them when necessary.
