That looks like something to do with directx. I usually only install i386-wine, wine-mono and winetricks.
Jaco
https://docs.freebsd.org/en/books/handbook/wine/ @LeonParadox maybe there is something useful in the handbook.
Jaco
Why did you install ZFS in the first place?
That's what GhostBSD's default install does, had to again yesterday. It's not performing as bad as i thought
Jaco
@scounixware Someone did share with me some info about those errors i was getting with the GPT + UFS install and how to solve it. If you are facing the same problem?

try removing/renaming ~/.wine and configuring wine anew

Not sure. How good? Maybe you want to join a pro group here

Ah, well, It's right about time for me to discover openssl.vim plugin. But it doesn't wokr in NeoVim due to different terminal implementation.

So I'm trying to guess how to fix execute there...

⚠️ TELEGRAM IS NOT DOWN Telegram has migrated to 64-bit IDs. After updating Telegram, some users may have to wait a minute or two for their chat database to be optimized for 64-bits, but sometimes Telegram stuck on updating. If your app is not updated: 1. You can send messages, but won't receive any of them. 2. You can't login using outdated app. ✅ SOLUTION Update your app, or if you are using an outdated unofficial app then switch to the official app. telegram.org/apps

For those of you using Q4 packages: Telegram version there is too old to properly work right now.

like the issue with IPv4?
Jaco
No, but I faced it on NetBSD and solved it
i see, yeah it's literally like a 5 minute fix but that is due to my own inexperience😅It's good though, i learned quite a few things😌

FreeBSD, BeagleBone Black and Robotics This talk is about a remotely operated hexapod robot powered by BeagleBone black and FreeBSD that offers server/client connection over WiFi to control its directions to be used as a supervisory system. The hardware platform is composed by a Beaglebone Black (BBB) and a dedicated Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) demultiplexer board. Most of the work behind controlling the pod and its sensors also contributed to new code added to the FreeBSD's base system to ARMv6 with the benefits granted by Flattened Device Trees (FDT). The main idea of this talk is to show the possibilities of developing a remotely operated hexapod robot (Aduka-II) and its control system out of many researchers' comfort zone. I'm baffles by FreeBSD's transfer speed to USB devices. Took 2 hours to copy 1.5GB🤔
Jaco
Using which method?
Right-click copy, right-click paste. I hope that's what you meant? 😅
Jaco
Could it be because of ZFS on a HDD?

I was thinking about: - USB2.0, USB3.0, USB-C? - Exfat format, NTFS format, FAT format (for the usb device) - command line methind, gui method - Available RAM on the laptop

It's USB2.0. It was NTFS format, Fat32 format and an android phone. From my observations these devices were alot faster on gnu/linux, incomparably faster 6GB ram in laptop

I'm using some USB3.0 devices and copying goes just normal. They are in exFat format. The laptop has 16GB ram tho

it sucks not to have wifi😅I don't think ram is the issue. There is no significant spike in ram and cpu usage when i check with top in terminal
Jaco
The system is pretty snappy with ZFS

try copying via command line with $ cp -rv /directory/to/copy/ /destination/device/ and see if it goes any faster
Krond
For progress tap Ctrl+T
Krond
Hm, if you are using modules, are you loading usb_quirk? Or just try kldload usb_quirk under root and replug the flash drive.
Jaco
try copying via command line with $ cp -rv /directory/to/copy/ /destination/device/ and see if it goes any faster
This is output "load: 0.21 cmd: cp 30690 [fu_ans] 9.25r 0.00u 0.09s 0% 1856k" and then it proceeds to copy files
Jaco
Files copied alot faster in CLI, not the 11 hours the gui promised😅Thank you @n0madcoder @krond for helping me out😌

I user linux, I wonder can I use linux pentest tools in bsd ?
Julia
Which ones are we talking about?

Its because FreeBSD uses FUSE for NTFS support Meanwhile Linux has NTFS support implemented as a kernel driver, so naturally its going to be faster
XADE
No, Kali Linux is better suited
use it if u like it but dont recommend it to others ^^ kali is insecure
XADE

u have many choices in case the pkgs u need is not there in repos like containers, VMs, other pkg managers, source etc.
Anonymous
oh thank u I will try docker on bsd
Just use Kali if you want pentesting, try FreeBSD on a VM if you want

Is Kali Linux Right For You? As the distribution’s developers, you might expect us to recommend that everyone should be using Kali Linux. The fact of the matter is, however, that Kali is a Linux distribution specifically geared towards professional penetration testers and security specialists, and given its unique nature, it is NOT a recommended distribution if you’re unfamiliar with Linux or are looking for a general-purpose Linux desktop distribution for development, web design, gaming, etc.
K
I’d rather use parrot tbh
Anonymous
Thanks for the explanation🙂I understand much better now
As for why is slower: FUSE works in userspace Code executes at the same speed whether it's in the kernel-space or in user-space Kernel code can pretty much do everything without restriction, but user-space code has to do some extra work and pass checks before it can do the same kind of work So the time for user-space code to do what kernel level code does, increases exponentially
Anonymous
Thats not an explanation
Anonymous
That also explains why the drives takes so long to automount? 🤔
it depends If you have some fancy filesystem like NTFS or EXFAT that need to use FUSE, then yeah But if your filesystem is implemented as a kernel driver, its much faster
XADE
>kali is insecure Explain
telemetry & baked in maleware (many allegations), same goes for other distros revolving around Ubuntu

I copy huge amounts of data everyday to an external hdd formatted to NTFS, they use it to watch movies and listen to music on a windows pc.
