aaron: pkgsrc is like a slightly nicer version of pkg and FreeBSD ports. However, pkg-ng is nicer than that.

Hi all, greetings from me! I develop a lscpu(https://github.com/NanXiao/lscpu) command for BSD(x86 CPU). Now it has been tested on OpenBSD/FreeBSD/NetBSD/macOS.Since I don't have DragonflyBSD (x86) at hand, if anyone in this group happen to has DragonflyBSD (x86) environment, could you spare 2 minutes to test whether the lscpu can work on DragonflyBSD (x86)? Thanks very much in advance!

I'm thinking of replacing linux system with bsd based system on laptop. Thing is I have huge partition of ext4. I've done some bit of googling and it seems to me that only freebsd support ext4, but it's limited and read-only. It's the only thing that prevent me from switching to bsd system full time, and maybe linux on the bhyve.
So, what do you guys suggest. Move the file and make new partition or is there a way to "convert" the partition to ufs or something?

Newnix
29.09.2017
12:21:06
1. Don't use UFS if you can use ZFS, HAMMER, or HAMMER2.
2. Just create an xz compressed tarball of your important data, possibly encrypted, and send it off to another system while you install whichever BSD you're interested in

aaron: carp (Telegram), Newnix (Telegram): More specifically, ZFS “degrades” to disk speed when you don’t give it a RAM cache.
aaron: Both ZFS and HAMMERFS have a larger in-memory index of the filesystem than ext3 or UFS though.
