Jaypatelani: Ohh got your messages there

Follpvosten: Yeah, the Gitter bridge seems to work fine :D Thanks, but my issues aren't that critical (and may be easily resolved as well)

Jaypatelani: Agreed ?

Jaypatelani: Last message on that room was at 27th July.. So better luck with discourse forum ?

Why freebsd uses tcsh and openbsd ksh?

There is a reason?

Jaypatelani: qbit 's blog

Follpvosten: After booting + X start, it takes about 3-5 seconds until i can move my mouse. What could be the reason? Configuration: moused_enable="YES" moused_flags="-VH" No xorg.conf

Jaypatelani: Follpvosten: which BSD?

Follpvosten: Jaypatelani: Free

Jaypatelani: Have you tried adding x.org?

Jaypatelani: Mostly here : /usr/local/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/*conf

Jaypatelani: Check here too /usr/local/etc/X11/xorg.conf

Follpvosten: I'm trying to avoid having an xorg.conf, but i might add files to xorg.conf.d, what should i add there? moused is being used btw, virtual scrolling works

Jaypatelani: Follpvosten: https://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/x-config.html

Jaypatelani: You can let system generate xorg too.

Follpvosten: I know i can, but the handbook advises me not to "Do not create xorg.conf or run a -configure step unless automatic configuration fails." I don't think automatic configuration fails, since everything works, what exactly would it do for me? If i just let it generate an xorg.conf, it will do the same thing as automatic configuration, right?

Follpvosten: So it wouldn't change anything, i think

Follpvosten: It's, again, not a big problem, i'd just like to know if someone had the same issue and could maybe provide a solution

Follpvosten: Oooh, looks like i've never read the full freebsd-update documentation

Follpvosten: I'll update to the current release

Jaypatelani: :)

Follpvosten: Okay, it looks like i'm running FreeBSD 11.0-RELEASE-p11 (tho uname indicates that my kernel was built for 11.0-RELEASE-p9)

Follpvosten: That probably doesn't affect anything

True. But those kernel files have been removed. So for example at loader prompt typing unload and then load (different file) does not work.

with a install medie in live mode you could place a kernel to boot and fix the problem !

what vesion are U you using ? 11.1 ?

10.3... agreed yes I could. But the double purpose for it is fixing a few other issues that have occurred along the way. I found out that the virtualization wasn't enabled in the CPU options in BIOS. So enabling this time during initial install.
