Julio
Oh it supports xp
If the case, is worth to do a test
Bahrami
That should be enough for many apps i geass
Bahrami
And does it have ongoing updates?
Julio
That should be enough for many apps i geass
Well, not always, as some developers move on compiler versions
Julio
Afaik, until VS 2015 you had the option to compile for XP
Julio
Since VS 2017 there is no more support for XP
Julio
And does it have ongoing updates?
If by "ongoing updates" you mean "automatic updates" in the windows style, well,.bad news for you: it is unimplemented 😭
Bahrami
Any update that make it better
Julio
Not style i mean app support
Support for vista+ apps is WiP
Julio
As @x86corez stated, we don't know if X app can run until someone do the respective tests
Julio
If you manage to do the tests, let us know

Unfortunately all screenshot are from 0.4.14 version

In fact: I like it

It's sincere

This article reminded me about how much I admire ROS developers! there is a lot of work to be done, but developers are up to the challenge 😍

Telmobss
Linux unix bsd and others have a root for the system
Telmobss
For modificate the system its need use the root
Telmobss
But have other systems harmonyOS not have root
Telmobss
Hoe is with reactOS and windows like? have a root more than linux or no?
Chungy
ReactOS is modeled after Windows. It has the Administrator and SYSTEM accounts.
Camarada Gato
ReactOS is Windows-like, Windows is DOS-like, DOS is CP/M. Then, ReactOS is CP/M-like.
Camarada Gato
MethanoVicky
but can we really log into the system account?
MethanoVicky
sometimes even the admin is not enough
MethanoVicky
seems that system is not a real account
MethanoVicky

But this its like a root in linux in my opinion or its very different ?
Telmobss
I ask why harmonyOS not have root too
Chungy
but can we really log into the system account?
probably. Even on Windows, you're not supposed to, but there's ways to abuse winlogon to get access :p
Chungy
either by changing the logon manager, or by exploiting oversights.
Telmobss
I ask why harmonyOS not have root too
But i whould like make a comparation with reactOS
Telmobss
And openharmony
Eris
you cant compare the two
Chungy
But this its like a root in linux in my opinion or its very different ?
Are you talking about a user account, the file system, or what? I'm not sure what you are really meaning by "a root"
Eris
reactOS and openharmony are two different systems following entirely different ideas
Eris
ReactOS is NT-like, it follows the design and ideas of the NT kernel and thus Windows
Chungy
then Administrator and/or SYSTEM
Telmobss
With linux i use root for all
Chungy
officially Administrator is the answer, though on Windows/ReactOS, it does have some restrictions still. Mostly "don't totally break the OS" restrictions
Chungy
SYSTEM really doesn't have any restrictions, but you're only supposed to interact with it for the logon screen and lock screen. (They both run under the SYSTEM account)
Telmobss
Like use freedos how window manager
Chungy
You have the same capability as Windows to change the shell. It's a registry key.
Chungy
if you really want a deep dive into how ReactOS is architected, you can check out Windows Internals 4th Edition, which describes XP and 2003. That's the basis for ReactOS.

For a vivobook with i7 12th intel xe graphics you now if with uefi support, if its possible run reactOS without emulation?
Chungy
you'll just have to try
Chungy
here is the shell set to regedit
Telmobss
I too have a steam deck
Telmobss
But i sont know if have support for external monitor

Chungy
what's "problematic"?
Chungy
that it has bugs?
Eris
it's a stretch, but maybe because its of russian origin?
Chungy
if so, my response would be "grow up" :p
Eris
aye

MethanoVicky
using text files is not bad here as it clearly indicates where to download if the software is down
Julio
What if instead we would use a xml or json file?
Julio
Or even a sqlite database
MethanoVicky
well, maybe because ini parser is already a fundamental part of windows so using this format could be easier than others
Chungy
What if instead we would use a xml or json file?
what if xml or json files are just named *.txt? :D
Chungy

just checking on this again, apparently the guy blocked me after I asked what's problematic about ReactOS :D Yeah... that's surely the sign of stability. </sarcasm>
