The short reason of why you see the ctrl-alt-delete prompt: when it crashes and you force a reboot, file system pages aren't flushed to disk and the registry becomes corrupted. ReactOS does not have the ability (presently) to recover.

I understand that, but the prompt is basically useless if you don't use a password or multiple accounts, so just disable the login altogether (as a temporary workaround for VBox) and it boots to desktop (said as a user - not meant to be disabled at source level). [EDITED]

However, if you logoff it appears and hitting Host+Del on VBox actually works

A heads up: Some apps on rapps don't download (addresses have been changed probably) - one example is Sumatra PDF it is at 3.1.2 on rapps and doesn't download - you can download 3.3.3 on a browser but doesn't start

Noticed that too, but since I have zero knowledge on what's missing couldn't figure it out - tried to download on Opera (9?), GitHub didn't even open. The newer version does open the GitHub page(s) but right now I can't remember if I was able to download anything

Actually the correct information is that Chen at Microsoft wanted to "revive" the game for modern Windows, but license forbids it and also forbids the open-sourcing of it.

Also, Vesa graphics mode can have quite an impact, depending on the video card (3dfx cards had great vesa capabilities, other brands were way slower). And using it means the cpu is quite stressed, and a k6 has a horrible fpu

I had a k6-2 500 CPU at the time. Fair CPU, but suffered a lot from low ram bandwidth (damn integrated video chip 😡🤬)
