GTK has not been a good fit on Windows. There is work that can be done to cross the bridge and make a good fit, but that work hasn't been done because nobody is interested in it :p

Lazarus is strictly Object Pascal. Qt gives you C++ and a few other languages.

Language support is actually where GTK has a really strong point. GTK itself is in C and you can use it from basically everything else too.

Qt's choice of C++ restricts it a lot more

and that's where it gets kind of weird too, because the GTK people really liked the smalltalk/Java style of object oriented programming and hated C++, so they stuck to plain C and reinvented OOP on top of it in their preferred style.

Eventually they made Vala, a language very similar to Java/C#, explicitly for that object model and compiles to native code

and doing OOP in C where you have to be careful about all the pointers you're passing around... causes lots of parts of GNOME to be written in various languages. All at once, it has C, C++, Rust, Javascript, Python, C#

C++ is kind of its own branch and take on OOP. It's not too bad, but the Smalltalk model really won out in mindshare and it's clear with Java and C# basing off of that
