because that extension contains program code to add the desktop icon feature. Just as other extensions add program code for a taskbar or whatever else you have as an example. It's exactly the same concept that web browser extensions use. They have code to do things that aren't built into the web browsers too.
Chungy
Extensions aren't just tweaking pre-existing settings. They're adding functionality that doesn't exist in the first place.

That's what I'm thinking when I hear the word "extensions" However, since it's so featherlight I thought Gnome were just dicks once again
Leon
I tried making a gnome extension once but documentation is really lacking some love.

X11 is getting slowly outdated
hacker12455
the biggest problem with wayland adoption will be that most apps are adapted to X11
Mark
And it doesn't help that wayland is documented badly
Mark
Half of the things you find on it are obsolete already
Mark
Luckily reactos needs neither x11 or wayland
𝕩iluembo
Wtf is an PoC?
Proof of concept

So how to get KDE Plasma 5 (NT port) working again on ROS w/o implementations for X11 or Wayland?
𝕩iluembo
KDE on windows/Mac is focused on apps
𝕩iluembo
One would need to try compiling and debugging it to get something working
Mark
use linux
Or better, don't use kde ;)

The biggest problem is the lack of proprietary nVidia support

Still the mitigations can reduce performance
Sure, hence why it's recommended to disable them for gaming, and serious CPU bound apps

The question is, if ryzen 1st gen is old enough for ROS, or way too new
hacker12455
No
hacker12455
I believe even 3rd gen Ryzen worked

ReactOS doesn't even benefit from multiple cores, from 64bit, for more than 3.25GB of RAM, from SATA 3, from NVMe, from USB 3 and so on Heck even a Core2 is enough
Anonymous
Everything is enough, we might need some kernel progress to get a bit more functions
Anonymous
But multi-kernel and 64bit seems to be hard
It more than seems, it is hard But this is one way to get more interest
Stas'M
But multi-kernel and 64bit seems to be hard
You mean multi-processor? MP is much harder than 64-bit
