Well Ryzen 3rd gen is finally an okay alternative for gaming (still worse than Intel sadly) but when it comes to multithreaded stuff, AMD takes advantage of it's more recent arch
Anonymous
And speaking of Arch, you want ArchLinux's freshness and fiability
Anonymous
My ArchLinux install on my laptop is way more resilient than everything I've done on my more powerful desktop

Vista boot support in ROS FreeLoader soon ™️

Anonymous
Even though Freeloader isn't fully compatible with NTLDR, it seems it's coming in the right direction
Stas'M
That might be awesome !
Yeah I like when interested open source people (it's Mark Harmstone, author of the BTRFS filesystem driver for Windows in this case) contribute back to the project 🙂
Esteban
Would it set the bases for compatibility with booting Win7 or are they too different for that?
Anonymous
That's all I know.
Ending here for now, if anyone knows more, that'll be appreciated !

I had time when Vista was installed on my modern laptop, but not all drivers are available so was a pain. Only thing i dont know, how i managed to boot Win98SE from FreeDOS with pure UEFI, because the Win7 and Vista freezes at the Logo at bootvid and some ACPI lacks of support, I dont know how Win98SE managed to use VGA, i have seen no drivers loaded at all, only 4 or some others like PIC... and Clock... etc.
Sumi Bleckie
Its real.
Sumi Bleckie
But hyper lagging with VGA.

VESA > VGA
Sumi Bleckie
RAM wasnt available all, 64MB from 4gb first time, i managed to edit config files and use 1.9, but kernel sometimes crashed, 1gb was fine
Anonymous
VESA > VGA
Well, you can do 1080p with a VBE driver but it isn't that accelerated
Sumi Bleckie
I didnt use any of these, I have used the original latest stable pure W98
Sumi Bleckie
Hmm, i will try
Sumi Bleckie
Theorically still impossible Win98 used UEFI framebuffer
Sumi Bleckie
and I prove that it does not mix any of the VGA legacy stuffs, bcs i tested the buffer

Maybe FreeDOS dId magic, im looking forward
