But seller is making some terms, as in sending laptop to a different place, etc.

Idk how would it turn out and in few days I am leaving for few weeks to a place without internet.

220, 230 has different keyboard. (unless he doesn't create a frankenpad from 230 with 220's keyboard, as I want to do :D).

Tobias?

Well in that case they should work. The keyboard looks like a refurb tough so maybe the refurb damaged it?

I got used to the x230 and typing on my t420 now feels subjectively worse imho
Sometimes I think in the same way when I'm trying my old x220, but there are actually two types of 220s (and earlier) keyboards. One of this is worse, than from x230, but another one is better for me. Will completely decide when will find that type, which I want (:

Side two: I finally want a high quality device that would serve me 5+ years.

Just like my previous one did.

Runing vm's always means a lot of cores. I have dual-core i5-4200U and it sucks.

Don't really want to even deal with buying anything such expensive somewhere where I can't beat the seller if they would get me low quality gear.

The biggest thing I need is very long battery life. 12-15 hours or more. Preferably 14" screen or less. Everything else is secondary.

I guess, something like x230.

With best in the line battery.

And with worst disk, ram, cpu options.

Good thing about laptops like ThinkPads is that the battery is conveniently replaceable, so you can buy two of them to double your baterry life

what is not possible on some other laptops (looking at you, mba)

I don't know, you can buy a knock-off baterry which is not that expensive comparing to the cost of the laptop itself

and works just as fine as the original one

Tobias?

you want x240 for battery life.

x230's are rated at 35W, 240 are 15W.

They last a crapton longer just because of the cpu rating change.

I thought of buying 9cell and additional one that is placed at ODD place.

x240 looks perfect though.

But even x220 isn't in my pricerange. :/

I guess, I just don't have another choice.

Would give all the efforts to repair my laptop.

And save for a Thinkpad for few years.
