But, but, but... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/12-hour_clock

Interesting: different languages have different tables https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sistema_horario_de_12_horas https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/12-%D1%87%D0%B0%D1%81%D0%BE%D0%B2%D0%BE%D0%B9_%D1%84%D0%BE%D1%80%D0%BC%D0%B0%D1%82_%D0%B2%D1%80%D0%B5%D0%BC%D0%B5%D0%BD%D0%B8 https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/2-mal-12-Stunden-Z%C3%A4hlung

So there is no 00am, really. But there is 30h time! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muhurta

That's weird... Uruguay and UK are mentioned as 12 hours time but that's not what I saw there....

I mean, yeah, we say "At 2 afternoon" but we don't write it that way. Hours are written in 24hrs. Like "Open 9-20"

Vitalii
02.07.2017
10:21:36
Does UK use 12h time? O_o I thought, that it is in the USA only. We do it as well: we can use 9 as for evening, but we use 24h mostly, and there is no am/pm.

I'm kind of confused.

Isn't Uruguay in America?

Yes, still America. And no, it's not all America with 12 hours and Europe with 24.

That's why I was surprised. Because in the South American countries I know they use 24. But there are some mentioned as 12. So I'm like....

Google
Kohane

And UK uses 24 as far as I can tell.

Of course, you don't say "Fourteen" because it sounds awkward. But still.

As far as I know, it's just the US with 12 hour time formats, although in Europe people would still sometimes say "three in the afternoon" sometimes.

But written, it was almost always as 24h format.

America likes to do a lot of its own things. Time, measurement units, temperature… makes it hard to understand measurements that anyone else in the world uses. ?

Wish we could use metric system and Celsius temperatures, would make my life much less confusing sometimes

Is it uncomfortable to use Kelvins and Imperial units? Or you just don't want to be confused, when the others cannot understand your measurements?

"He was 6 feet tall" and I'm like "is he tall?" "Add half a gallon of milk" And I have to look up for some conversion table because I have no idea what a gallon is. And to worse there are apparently two kinds of it.

the US gallon defined as 231 cubic inches (3.785 L)

In some conversion tables. It's like US gallon and Imperial gallon, something like that. Maybe it's an old measure and nobody use it anymore.

I learnt when I tried to cook recipes written by US Americans. ?
I went through the reverse issue when I tried following an Indian recipe on Thursday… ending up eyeballing it more than converting it because I was wasting more time running conversions and then forgetting them, and then looking them up again…

LMAO

When on top of that they measure stuff in cups and spoons, I just give up.

But I often kept trying because the recipe was too delicious to ignore it. But yeah, it can be hard.
