It's an option, good one ? I don't thing so

Look

In the past, we were screwing small things with JavaScript

It was just a toy

Till Google and some other companies decided to screw the whole back and front end with JavaScript (JS)

But js is an awful language anyway

Go with Ruby , I'm on django and when I wanna pay my bills, I use asp.net

Is Node good option ?
Why not, it is asynchronous, flexible, you can write one language both a server and a client (if you're studying it). Lots of good and big services are build upon the Node.js, a bit difficult to learn. Personally I hate it and I see the world, where the JavaScript will die, and everyone will live in harmony and happiness, but to be pragmatic, it is a good option to write backend, you can use it (please, don't).

It doesn't support multi threadning, it force you to write ugly syntax with no reason I mean C++ has hard syntax but it's 10x faster than JavaScript!

With all that hard code, JavaScript is just 3 times faster than the easiest language, smalltalk and python

It has c-like syntax, so it's not the main issue. And also node.js provides an ability for asynchronous programming (it is one of the main features).

Anyway, it depends on what do you want to reach and what do you want to learn.

So isn't it supposed to be closer to c-like languages in performance and speed ? Funny I use pypy (python implementation) which makes python faster and far easier than JavaScript!

But anyway @XtheCodeX you should consider the market in your country, perhaps most companies use node where you live! Then go for it or any other language you find it popular there

No, it isn't. You're comparing uncomparable stuff. Moreover, performance is not always the most needed thing in backend (say wha...???), because you will be always limited by database and an internet connection speed. Otherwise, why would people use java for enterprise? Yes, all jvm's are optimized as far as it possible, and people working at it, but performance is not the key to be popular on backend. And a good architecture makes more profit, than any language's pros.

Don't forget how many days it has been taken to develop this language ;)
Yes it's mature enough but I'm not comparing it to python and especially ruby in the back-end

People start to think node is the future, in my opinion Go language is the new sexy :)
