Okular pulls up the entire KDE desktop as a dependency.. Atril only takes up ~10 MB on my Fedora 25...

Nope, I got the apps on my gnome, MATE apps don't pull desktop dependencies, neither do XFCE apps...

last weekend I've realized that mocp is not present in Fedora's repos. If anyone is looking for a terminal-based music player which does not require you to set up and configure a server, this is what I recommend

I use it, cool and useful. Can work with internet radios as well as with audiofiles. And can work on background.
