Well first of all, gimp is a much more advanced tool than photoshop, with the scripting API you can do pretty much any pixel manipulation, secondly, for drawing, you use Krita anyway.
Gimp actually gets all the new photoshop features like non-destructive editing in the next versions, and yes, gimp has a noob mode. Window -> Single Window Mode
I think GIMP is more than enough for front-end web developer, I loved krita but it doesn't support Arabic so I ditched it
I only have problem with implying that GIMP is quite as good as Photoshop.

What I love in Photoshop tbh is the non-destructive (coming soon to GIMP) and the automatic face detection and correction ability
That makes my life a lot easier when I have to edit/fix face features

From Windows 8 on, Windows recognises Linux partitions. So it doesn't matter which one you install first.For me a poor guy (ha ha) if I need Photoshop I must have to satisfy myself with gimp

Last time I installed Windows 8.1 it showed me the different partitions (two from Linux and one for Windows). I deleted the whole disk anyway, but it gave the option. Previous versions wouldn't do it because they didn't recognise Linux partitions.First Name Dora04.06.2017

This group had this talk several timesBut yeah, when you have a crap drawing tool (gimp) and one that was made for it, has recurring money flowing into it and good coders working behind the scenes to make the dreams of the community come true (krita) and you can get both for free in every aspect....
