I like mac theme, but gnome is far more elegant

I don't understand what's special about mac itself, waste of money

the laptops are pretty well made, the os is stable but I wouldn't say that it's better than Linux

Don't believe what u see in commercials pal, apple has good marketing but believe me Linux is as secure as Mac.

Mac is good but doesn't worth all that money, if u have unneeded 2500$, mac for u

I think MacBook Airs are of pretty good value, other laptops of that size and battery life are similarily priced

but if I could swap MacOSX with Linux with guarantee that it will work just as well (especially when it comes to power management), I would do it in a heartbeat. But I'm too lazy to switch currently ;)

Well, it's hard to expect a good power management in Linux on a laptop which has been designed to only run with macOS. I've got Thinkpad X240 and when it was new I was able to squeeze 15+ hours in airplane mode from it on Fedora, and 10-12h of normal work on wifi. I don't find it bad at all.

I guess that tinkering long enough with powertop and whatnot it should be possible for Linux go get pretty good results... but the laziness prevents me from doing that, especially when I can run Fedora in a docker image and every other laptop I use

the only thing you have to do to get it to the same level of power management, is to manually configure hibernate option. there are changes in grubconf needed. so it knows, where to check for hibernated system dump. and here you go.

I would have to get to that eventually... but I'm so lazy and MacOSX kind of works (youtube, vlc, sublime, vim, git and compilers work okay) so I have no immediate need for that

There's this, but I don't know how it works: https://forums.hubic.com/showthread.php?272-hubiC-for-Linux-beta-is-out-!

seriously though, why can't all these cloud services just provide an SFTP, WebDAV or some other standarized access

That's a unique usecase; I mostly use it for ma college texts; I usually edit the portions I need using pdfmod on a weekly or monthly basis and upload them to use at school....

it looks like a nice synchronization tool, but I use syncthing for that already, so no use for me ;) But as a place to store backups, especially that at 10eur/year it's priced reasonable and it has a nice API, it may be useful
