NetBSD does not use gnu coreutils, and you can as well use clang/llvm.
GnuBSD
Gnu's Not Unix Linux. How stupid does that sound ??

@mbalmer I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX. Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called “Linux”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project. There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called “Linux” distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.
Richard Stallman aproves this message ?

Being on the Windows Store also means that the distros will be able to work on the education-focused Windows 10S. This could give Microsoft an extra edge in appealing to computer science and engineering students who may want access to the open-source operating system for developing code.
Is someone against targeting students like marketing strategy anymore?

I think it's a pretty pathetic move :P
In any case... Windows 10S can only run approved Windows apps but no restrictions for the Linux subsystem?
What was this security they were talking about hmmm?
Nah, just another way to make people shell out a few more bucks for the same unfinished product.

G isn't far from B. Could have meant a bold move, which to that, I'd agree. I also think it's a golden move for Microsoft because it *is* aggressive.

I'd wish they'd hide their Attempts better. It was hard enough to get my boss to give up his strict Windows ruling and have me have my way and being productive and loving every stability-increasing update instead of spending days going trough firewall logs and fearing the next update will break all my progress on stopping the endless spying
And its not going to be easier to talk the next Employer out of it - atleast i have adopted asking for what OS is dictated or allowed to be developed on first nowadays.

This ^, like enabling evil mode on emacs to use vim keybidings, why not simply use Vim?.
The same goes to this behavior, why use Linux inside Windows if you can use Linux on bare metal? I think this is targeted to dumbs.
