Niteen Fun fact too, if you go to Google and type: site:fedoramagazine.org in your query, you can search only the Fedora Magazine for articles about how to do things or search for articles on specific topics.

I don't hate Ubuntu itself, I hate the fact that *most* developers think GNU/Linux is represented only by Ubuntu and so they create packages or apps only for that

Good point, canonical s going down the drain....
Based on recent events, I think they were in a sensitive spot, but I think the recent changes to work upstream (and quietly letting go employees / position changes) is an attempt to focus in better on the market they're doing well in.
I don't think it's possible to say Canonical / Ubuntu are going down the drain, but I think we're in a period of "sit and wait" as they make large changes to their business model / focus areas.
They're going much harder for IoT and enterprise markets, which is where they've done well thus far

they're just very good with marketing, omgubuntu is one of the causes, while technical, professional articles are more interesting, people loosely interested in technology are more going to be attracted to "HOLY CRAP LOOK AT THESE 6 AWESOME UBUNTU THEMES" articles, and it's hard to blame them
it makes Ubuntu look fun
