The problem mentioned before wasn't against anaconda itself, but against the partitioner and I'm a little +1 on this, it can be a little hard to configure sometimes

For multi disks is ultra hard

At least the first time. If you are used to, it's normal

I pass a hard time to configure a ssd and spin disk configuration

Where I was setting /var /opt /home and swap to spin disk and / and /boot to ssd

I agree

And I know it wasnt anaconda itself

I still havent gotten anaconda to properly install a BTRFS system however

openSUSE’s YaST installs a btrfs system in a couple clicks

There IS a new partitioning GUI in the anaconda installer for 26 release but I dont know if its any different under the hood.

Curious, why not the swap on the SSD?

Curious, why not the swap on the SSD?
Swap might experience high rates of IO data, and SSD are more pron to dead by highest IO task than HDD.

Technically ssd is suppose to have limits in writing

Sometimes the main issue a lack of up to date documentation.
Well see, why should I need documentation for a one-click auto configure feature? I understand the importance of documentation and reading. But if a feature is as advertised and another installation software has it down that justs silly to say its a Docs thing.

True, but you should turn down the swap write frequency down by default anyway. ( in my opinion that is )

Yeap, well it depends on how much RAM you have and how much you use it. I have 8GB on RAM and swap and I have never used more tha 5GB and never used the swap T_T XD

Eduard
10.04.2017
16:54:04
Well, in modern systems swap is used for hibernation and stuff like that

Because you can find computers with 4, 6, 8 and more GB of RAM

Swap in 2017? Really?
One never knows. I have a 2GB Destkop and when it copes the ram the swap is handy.

Just increase amount of RAM by adding one or two additional modules.

I have a server (misconfiured by the installer) with 32 GB of RAM and with 8 GB of swap at 70% of use

And is in production, I can't change the configuration

So....

Some system, like an old X40 or netbooks can handle just that.

Does it hurts to have a swap?

Eduard

Of course not

What is the little amount of RAM that can be found now?

For 128GB of ram too... https://plus.google.com/photos/photo/114752601290767897172/6366595780208239058?icm=false

I think 32GB of swap is good enough.

Ah. Okay. Well, this is something I recorded myself, and as I'm learning again to use a pro camera, well, I'm interested to know if I did it correctly.

And I thought I had a problem when my boyfriend was in UK and I was in Uruguay...

Compared to this, nothing.
