That's beyond ridiculous now.
It is, of course. But the idea behind is that if you're drinking something (juice, water, tea) you're not working so they don't want you to do it. I guess the whole concept of multitasking didn't reach them yet.

GNOME is once again the default DE for all of thee distros for the first time since 2010
well not that openSUSE really has a default declared rn
but the board chain for openSUSE wants it to be I think.

?, Ubuntu just abandoned unity and obviously they will switch to gnome, but opensuse run kde as default, I doubt they will change that cuz kde is really good

Albiet Canoncical is the company that takes risks and I applaud them for it.
I think they should have thrown in the towel a lot sooner though.
Next they need to get rid of snappy.

Maybe they can cooperate with Red Hat's commitment to GNOME and lead the future of GNOME :P

Well, they have to play by upstream's rules, not their own. ?
Cooperation will be a must but I think it will work well

https://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/04/06/microsoft_windows_10_creators_update/ I expect more and more people switching to Linux in the future

I tested in arch and it works preety well
Normally the issue is the lack of "default applications" but there also a lot of qt apps
So, you can sort it

Lots of apps use Qt
Yeah, but more desktop environments are based on GTK than Qt, with Qt you've only got KDE and LXQT
with GTK you've got Gnome, XFCE, Cinnamon, Mate...
