I'd love to get one, though

but you have to preorder it, and it's ~400eur of downpayment

But it is expensive.

There is one thing about 701 that I really love. A modem.

right now in Poland the only two situations you've got a landline is that you're either an old person and always had it so you still have it, or you've got it with cable tv and broadband so you've got a phone lying somewhere at home and don't use it anyway

Google
Michał

mobile phones have phased out the landlines pretty succesfully

but there's definitely a lot of romanticism in having a modem, going to the phone booth and connecting to a BBS... going full cyberpunk with it ??

the hardest part would probably be finding an actual phone booth

I actually quite like Unity, I hope this is about going back to Gnome-based Unity environment and not to vanilla Gnome

Unity is easy to use, stable and recognizable, it would be a shame if it would be thrown away

Well... I was seeing it coming. It simply makes no sense to keep up projects that are reinventing the wheel.

Sooner or later this was going to happen.

I realy feel sad about a lot of effort they spent on upstart, mir and unity. If only they spent the same on systemd, wayland and gnome, we would have much better products already.

Exactly. Is a waste of time, effort and money. They could just tweak these projects to fit their needs so everybody would benefit.

We talk about a lot of things not specific to Fedora but about FOSS so I see no reason why it's bad to share what other distributions are doing

It's one thing to send a link to an article about something another distro is doing, but quite another to go blatantly telling people in a Fedora group to use another distro
