Atom is alive in contrast to Sublime which is almost not developed anymore

Ehh, I love Sublime, but I think I'd rather commit myself to Vim before I paid the license because I'd be able to use that on any operating system, GUI or not

I didn't find it very slow, and I will always prefer something without license issues. Sublime is nice, but....

Eh I don't think that's the case :P
I paid for ST3 and use it daily nowadays, but I am worried that it will just stop being developed

especially comparing to the pace with which Visual Studio Code is developed...

What you should worry is plugins

And I don't think they are going anywhere

Well considering VSCode is basically a browser... No thanks.

I don't want to load a huge binary to just edit files.

yeah, but the plugins can only do what the editor allows them to do, Sublime allows for some stuff while in Atom you can modify practically everything

but I agree, Atom is too big and too slow for me as well

no perfect solution I guess

one could argue that the ubuntu & unity news will have an impact on all distros

for example, ubuntu devs working on gnome

Tanuj

The second option is obviously not allowed but I see no issue with the first
i'd argue that people should use the best tool for the job and if that's not fedora then we should be allowed to tell them that for their needs another distro might be best

For me Ubuntu is offtopic too. ?
the group should have a consistent policy?

The problem is that there is no "Best" because best for me isn't best for you. I like vim, basically luve vim, but maybe you don't like it

Try Ctrl+Alt+F1 or Ctrl+Alt+F7
Ctrl+Alt+F1 is default to loging session, GDM in this case. Ctrl+Alt+F2 is the current graphical session, and it goes as you log in with another user from GDM or tty if you use the text based login.

MS Windows standard?
Believe or not, it was a requirement from Microsoft to the hardware manufacturers to set dedicated hardware functions to the FN keys as primary. On GNOME they do the same as in any Windows version starting from 8.
