I'm not sure Superfish is big enough to receive the sort of scrutiny that the big guys receive, though.
So I'm not really sure that says much.

it's not what it once was

As far as I'm aware, there aren't any backdoors on my device, but I assume I'm wrong.
My current device is definitely one of the best-built laptops I've had
All my high-end HP laptops only ever lasted about a year

Lenovo's aren't even sturdy x3

Michał

I've got a HP ProBook 6470b, and I have to admit I was suprised by how much beating this thing can take and still be okay

Paul
17.03.2017
17:26:49
My current one has taken quite a beating, but I wouldn't say it's quite as sturdy as an old ThinkPad, mostly because it's so thin.

That's just not what they were meant for
Apple kind of invented the thinness craze
I wish more companies sacrificed it for battery

The Yoga 900 is one of their high-end consumer devices, which is not normally what Lenovo is kown for
Well... high-end for Lenovo's consumer line

Michał
17.03.2017
17:28:02
well, it makes sense, you want your laptop to be light and thin so you can travel with it easily

Paul
17.03.2017
17:28:24
It's definitely convenient, but I could do with a bit more battery.

Michał
17.03.2017
17:28:49
There are power banks for laptops so you may use one of these

Paul
17.03.2017
17:29:05
Yeah, but that kinda defeats the whole portability idea, lol

Michał
17.03.2017
17:29:29
why, you just take the extra battery with you if you know you're going to need it
else you can just leave it at home or so

Paul

17:29:47
Oddly enough... by far the most durable laptop I've had is some $180 Chromebook

Charging laptops with USB is a great idea, I wish I could take one charger with me for my phone and laptop when I go somewhere
even though I kinda like the MagSafe
but, to be honest, I hever had a situation where MagSafe would have saved me

Paul

Paul
17.03.2017
17:32:57
Bleh... MagSafe always fell out if you were on the couch or something
It was a little _too_ safe
I mean, it was nice, but it wasn't perfect
And you could still yank a laptop off a shelf or whatever if you pulled from the right angle

Hi all... I want to install telegram-desktop but i really dont know whats the best option here. Can anyone advice if its better to go for a copr repo (there are there are 4 repos there. Are they all thrustable?) or go for the flatpak package (nightly build) or just keep it simple and use the official bins and put them on /opt...? I switched from debian "unstable" (10 years user) to fedora this week (love the performance, and whant to keep it my daily OS for the next years to come). Also is yumex-dnf package manager a good alternative for cli? Sorry for the long text!

However, some other distributions offer non-resident repositories too.
If you were to compare all of Debian's repos with Fedora's + RPMFusion, for example, I'm sure the numbers would be very close.
