Lenovo is one of the manufacturers that do the shadiest tricks

Holy crap, I finally solved MPD + Samba + Bluetooth headset problem.
Just launched MPD on server, so no samba is necessary. Use ncmpcpp as a client on desktop and VLC to play from HTTP output. :D

I've heard that there are some tools which are able to strip MT from microcode for some Intel CPUs

Tobias?

That can be flashed

Michał
17.03.2017

also I would really like a computer with another architecture, possibly OpenRISC, it's just that nobody really sells them :P

天荣

Some open source software is targeted for x86 even
So compiling won't do the trick alone

Michał
17.03.2017
14:29:17
No wonder, as developers have only x86 or x86_64 to play with, with small addition of some ARMs lately

天荣

14:30:12
It's a shame...

Michał

arm-based chromebooks look actually interesting

天荣
17.03.2017
14:32:30
Indeed
I just dislike ARM
Well
I like it more than x86, y'know
Way much more competition
But it's still a closed, license based architecture...

Ew Superfish :(
It only affected Windows users from the non business Lenovo line. If you use ThinkPad with Linux you are safe.

Dell did not make Superfish
They might have their something something, given it is not FLOSS we cannot audit it. So we don't know if they have something like superfish installed in the XPS Dev Edition.

We do not know.
We do, however, know Lenovo is a very shady company.

Michał

天荣

Asus and Dell are good choices.
MSI is poor build quality but they don't do Superfish
I'm sure you'll manage.

Not so smart.
You now have obvious proof they do stuff.
