It's a significant cost to the company that makes it. The point about updating an app to prevent security problems is valid, but you can update libraries while still having binary backwards compatibility, not breaking these old apps.

When I started learning programming, I was asking this question a lot, ppl with no experience in this field answer it with one word some said python others said C++, etc. But the really programmer was smiling in my face when I ask this question, now I could say I'm programmer and I realized why they laugh at my question There is no better in IT sector, the same concept can be applied on distribution comparing, they are all good just choose what suite ur needs
