QubesOS itself uses VM's to lunch apps.

Windows can't see pendrives with multiple partitions.

You'll need to go to disk manager and fix it manually

Or format it using a Linux machine

You have to crear new partion
no, disk manager and format all or get a formatting tool

The Stick is now [boot][linux][empty] [2mb][500mb-2gb][rest] And windows can only see "boot" in explorer mode

Because they dont trust users to handle multiple partitions

in many cases rightfully, my exchange stick has half ntfs half ext4

It's called business :P supporting an operating system is quite costly, especially as fragmented as Linux

Yup but adobe won't release it for free, no matter how much it costs, when ppl need it, they pay for it

The problem is, would they pay enough. Making an app run on Linux is one thing, but maintaining it, supporting its users and whatnot is another big pile of ? that you need to throw at the product

Exactly that. And companies like Adobe can't just do like game companies, I mean "here's a .tar.gz with binaries, on Ubuntu from 2007 we needed these packages to run it, no idea how to do that now, good luck"

Valve has a great idea about the set of libraries that need to be available for steam games, it makes stuff WAY easier

I wish all Linux desktop systems would provide something like that, like one GTK version which is guaranteed to be binary compatible with some version which is decided and it stays that way

The sad point is that a shitty OS like windows run 90% of PCs just because it has a big support to games and programs
Windows is predictable. You can have .exe files from early 90's and run it on current Windows without much hassle, try doing that on Linux. I hope this will change, though (and Linux will be better in this)

"Common Sense" is kinda #1 implied

Also you can do the same on linux now. Flatpak or any similar app container can just have any libraries thrown in that a program back then may have needed.

But I'm not sure if I need to reference the license in each file
You must place GPL preamble into all files licenced under the terms of this license. Also you must provide full GPL text as LICENSE or COPYING file.

Tobias?

So you can make a self-contained app of old software that runs anywhere. Which is heavily discouraged and the fact that windows can do it is not a reason for, its a reason against it because this implies a massive legacy library - and one that has been frequently used as attack vector because it brings back many vulnerable things that have been enabled for things like early simcities

Windows is overflowing with such legacy requirements left and right and the current state is a result of that - Windows 10 will soon atleast heavily warn you before you install non-store apps for a good reason.

Michał

Yeah, but on Linux you may have problems with finding a year-old version of a library, because an ABI has changed and now the application that you don't have sources for will not start

Flatpak is a solution, but IMHO if some projects would think about freezing an ABI at some point, it would be nice
