What if they learned LibreOffice and they were only offered MS Office jobs?
They would stay poor...

also Microsoft is helpful enough to provide ms office for free in academia, so you kinda have no reason to try something else at home

I think the main issue with schools is, that EU is (or at least was a few years ago) providing whole classroom setups with Windows, one Domain Controller for a teacher and whatnot, it came nicely configured so internet access was monitored and teacher could check any of the classrooms computers from his/her computer, so I can't really blame them on not throwing this all away and redoing it from scratch using Linux

and I don't know whether EU can be blamed either, as I guess they just did a call for bids for "classroom setup with that and that features for the teacher" and well, MS won

someone might know, how do i run slightly more demanding games on fedora on an AMD card? i used manjaro and they worked out of the box just fine. with fedora however i cant find proprietary ATI drivers (catalyst i guess) in the repos and the default free drivers cant run any games except for simple ones such as VVVVVV.
