Now that the cryptomining has become a worthless meme on gpus many miners sell like crazy.

I mean if someone looks at a machine to get they can focus on getting supported hardware or swapping with a cheap af gpu from ebay.
But Tobias, why do you assume they are looking at a computers before installing anything?

Normally is the other way around.

Tobias?

Even if someone cant run out and instabuy you can recommend them to run commands xyz, then plan for the future months to ditch their gpu when they can to get the best support.

You have a computer and you install stuff on it.

If it works, good. If it doesn't, you move to another system.

I dont, i plan in the option that someone can upgrade later.

If it works, good. If it doesn't, you move to another system.
With that reason everyone should stay on windows.

Because nvidia will fail, eventually, on newer kernels.

As said, right now mining gpus are cheap as fuck from ebay and if they really want permanent longterm support they can look at amdgpu supported cards to get in the next months.

Did anybody ask for you to advertise your chat or is it related to fedora?

Okay. But 80% of people have a computer and no interest or spare resources in buying new stuff. So... they will work with whatever works with the hardware they have.

I'm quite new to Fedora KDE spin. How up-to-date do they keep Plasma? I'm on 5.13.5 on F28 - and a bit envious of the Neon guys already on 5.14. Would I have to wait for F29 - or will it come to F28 in it's own good time...?

Neon is the testing spin of kde after all. Just wait a few days for the f29 release or update, because usually not that much changes between releases.

Today we had to move PostgreSQL from 10 to 11. Now our build pipeline fails for every Linux variant we support.... They wisely chose to use LLVM for a new feature, so we have to check all variants of linux and make them build the software again.....

You need to install rpmfusion-nonfree-appstream-data

then look in gnome-software—>addons—> drivers

However the best is cli imo.

Afterall it's nvidia

When you're installing Fedora, it will offer you an option to encrypt your disk. There you can choose password, kind of encryption and so.

There is no written rule, but it's strongly advised to package stuff one actually use. So if you're using Arch, is better to package for Arch.

Ok but I can only use easy passwords
Well, there's Keepax and a few other similar programs that can help you to create a stronger password.

Although I don't see why can use easy passwords only during install

i'll bet you'll come back to arch ,,,, because AUR!
Try not to push people just because you prefer something, please. It's very rude.

It's advised by Fedora devs. I think it's even in one of the wiki pages about packaging.

Arch isn't really the most elite distro in the existence. Plus you're kinda pushing him... don't.
