And i faintly remeber a saying like "you can teach someone english in a month but german not in a lifetime".

There are more complex languages but we have one of the most restrictive sound rulesets - a sense which you'll only get early on as toddler or trough years and years of effort. And we have quite a lot of corner cases that make sense to a german speaker because it sounds "wrong" else but for newcomers...

Uhm. No. I can't see it creepy. I mean, it won't take long for them to know who I am. My name is fairly common in Germany, but my last names are definitely not German.

In the last times, I realised that people in Stuttgart are super-friendly and will strike a conversation with astonishing ease. So I have a sentence in store: "Deutsche ist nicht meine Muttersprache". "German is not my mother language". So they know I understand what they're saying, no need to switch or struggle with Google Translate, but I may butcher their language or fall in my default that is English.

Ah. Well, apparently my tonations were well fitted to the area I was sitting in (Baden-Württemberg) because people tend to have a "WTF! Aren't you German?" expression when I have to fall back to English. It also brought me a few problems in customs. ?

Modern day germans wear, atleast in huge portions, workwear from a specific german company (and generic jeans).

But you will find a lot of germans wearing Engelbert Strauss (locally made workwear) and Jack Wolfskin (Not workwear, but also made in germany).

Anyway, I had that dress stored for ages until I realised nobody would say a word (in Echterdingen) if I decided to wear it. So I did. All in all, they're pretty and super-fresh.

But you will find a lot of germans wearing Engelbert Strauss (locally made workwear) and Jack Wolfskin (Not workwear, but also made in germany).
