Spanish, German. Those languages will help you. Spanish because it's the second most popular language online and German because of Germany. But both are difficult languages, nothing close to English. You're warned.

Automatic translations from English to German or German to English? That's risky. One often ends with an insult or a text that makes no sense whatsoever. I wouldn't recommend it for long or complex texts. It's mildly useful in spare sentences and short texts (like a message or a quick email).

Spanish Football league
Well, if it's for football you have the Bundesliga. But I don't think that understanding a few football terms, that are often in English, will help you in a real life conversation or a reasonably well-written text.

Easier yes, because it's less confusing with the grammars. But compared to English, both are complicated.

And i faintly remeber a saying like "you can teach someone english in a month but german not in a lifetime".

There are more complex languages but we have one of the most restrictive sound rulesets - a sense which you'll only get early on as toddler or trough years and years of effort. And we have quite a lot of corner cases that make sense to a german speaker because it sounds "wrong" else but for newcomers...

Yeah, Although the whole "germans will instantly switch to english should they realize you're non-native to ease you up" is slightly disturbing.

Uhm. No. I can't see it creepy. I mean, it won't take long for them to know who I am. My name is fairly common in Germany, but my last names are definitely not German.

In the last times, I realised that people in Stuttgart are super-friendly and will strike a conversation with astonishing ease. So I have a sentence in store: "Deutsche ist nicht meine Muttersprache". "German is not my mother language". So they know I understand what they're saying, no need to switch or struggle with Google Translate, but I may butcher their language or fall in my default that is English.

Yeah, I have some knowledge of Italian and Portuguese for the same reason. If it's just "some" it's because I seldom practice them.

In my case it's even stranger. Half of my family speaks English, another half speaks Russian, I went to the English school and the people where I live speak a Turkic language which is quite close to Turkish.

Ah. Well, apparently my tonations were well fitted to the area I was sitting in (Baden-Württemberg) because people tend to have a "WTF! Aren't you German?" expression when I have to fall back to English. It also brought me a few problems in customs. ?

You actually.... what
I had one of those sexy cute dresses, typical of Bavaria. I wore it a lot every summer. I still have a Swabian-like dress but the poor thing is reaching its end.

I know two guys who go to Uni wearing those short pants. I'm not quite sure if they're Swabian or Bayerische, but I always spot them and wonder why anyone would attend classes dressed like that.

Still. This doesn't explain why two guys decide go to classes dressed like some Oktoberfest attendants.

The good thing is that nobody gives a damn. So if they're happy, all is well.

Backpacks are always hard to find for me.
I always have issues when buying backpacks. But I prefer buying them than buying clothes like underwear or trousers. Buying clothes is so annoying.
