Chances are they targetted him and were looking for a reason to sentence him to death. If they hadn't found that, they would've found something else.

Can somebody who uses File Roller or Engrampa check whether they can open a .tar.gz or .zip file then navigate in it? Opening the file works fine for me, but when I try to open subfolders in the archive nothing happens. Shortly afterwards I get a "Sorry, $archivemanager has stopped working" message.

I can't say about Engrampa, I don't use it. But File Roller works fine for me.

This definitely worked before and has only stopped working properly since a few days (possibly after an update?). The interesting thing is that I downloaded Engrampa to check if the bug persists, and it does. So maybe it's a bug in a lower library both use.
