But you can always switch to tty, and just remove gtk3 library and Xorg, then install cinnamon again.

Remove EVERYTHING(removing gtk3 and Xorg will remove all. ALL) and install cinnamon.

Had you checked it for overheating problems? Last time some guy asked me about why Fedora is freezing in GNOME, we figured out, what he had put the hot coffee mug right on notebook, right above processor...
