Previous version loaded the live session on computers with less than 1GB ram, but for installation was required to edit a specific file and set the minimal amount of ram need to install from 1024 to 0. Not sure what happens now days

But if the live session is not being loaded there is not chance to use this "hack"

I have a X40 here, It is older than yours and work fine with lxde. Try the netinstall iso, and from there, select the desired desktop environment you want to install.
