Same here, I always use the vanilla gnome without extensions, keyboard shortcuts are useful to learn on gnome.

By the way: >As mentioned above, now you can use Win key in Gnome. The windows key as a expose mode overview has been there since Fedora 15 with the first GNOME 3 release.

I couldn't use it back then, maybe was a problem with my keyboard or something

Actually, since the first release you were able to launch the overview mode in 4 different way: 1. The hotspot 2. Clicking on activities. 3. Pressing Alt+F1 4. Windows Key.

@fdelapena My memory is really slow and limited. It's not handy for me to use it in keyboard shortcuts. My personal point of view.

Well, maybe it wasn't obvious for non Gnome 3 users, I only remember 1 & 2

BTW, I'll update the post with your comments in a while ? Just for the sake of completeness.

Have you tried Mate? It's a great project, combined with something like synapse I think it's great. Expecially if you are used to a traditional desktop metaphor and gnome apps should be integratet pretty well.

Kohane

I tried it a year or so ago, I wanted to try now but Mate installed Synapsis and that messed my touchpad on Gnome

But I'd like to try it and see how it works now after so much time.

don't expect big changes in the interface or something like that :D I prefer it over Cinnamon or Xfce

This is a system-oriented language, and code is as fast as C. But actually, this will never happen. Because it's not so easy to just "switch" from a JVM/Dalvik based language to native code only. Just a joke, a dream.

In some contexts, RTFM and LMGTFY makes sense - in work situations where someone is supposed to know something in that field, or at least know where to look, but instead waste others' time. In community settings I'd say it's mostly inappropriate

Who knows, maybe. At least to supplant C/C++. I'm hoping Kotlin replaces Java too. Much more safe and succinct

Dropbox is an interesting case study. They use all of Python, Go and Rust

Python for web development, Go in the backend, Rust for mission critical stuff like their storage layer (speed of C, safety of something like Haskell)

That's when you realize "public static void main (String[] args)" is not beginner friendly
