In Germany (and England is the same as far as I can tell) police officers are always roaming around. But in Uruguay they rather stay in dowtown and don't go around too much.

Oh, because the states are independent.
Yeah, well there's also federal land vs state land vs county land vs city land

So the city is within the county, so you fall under city law as long as you remain in the limits

But there's still presence of county officials in the city, as well as federal and state

Isn't it a bit messy?
Surprisingly not. They each have their own jurisdiction, so by law any agency is required to allow another agency with jurisdiction to handle something. Any of them can pretty much pull you over if you're reckless or suspicious, but they cannot arrest you unless the circumstances allow it. So border patrol can't arrest someone in a traffic stop unless they're confirmed or suspected to be an illegal immigrant, or something similar.

The same goes for federal. A city police officer can pull you over on the federal highway, but even in city limits, highway patrol or another federal agency has to make the arrest.

Setting>advanced>enable experimental features, then in the menu you can enable the notebook bar...thing is, it was correctly sized in fedora 26, and it started to be this way after the f27 upgrade
Well, I just tried and couldn't see any notebook bar. There's an entry in the View menu but nothing else. I see the same appearance with the same toolbars as usual.

It's great IMHO. The weather is very hot and dry here, which people can be sensitive to. But we have monsoons during the summer that bring rain and floods that keep things alive.

But dry hot is way better than humid hot. Monsoons.... that's not something I ever watched. Once in a while it would rain a lot in Uruguay, but it was an exception. The common thing is a changing weather like the British Islands. Rain, sun, wind, whatever, any time of the year and randomly shuffled ?

And that's annoying, you know

In general you should try to avoid this, but if you really need it, there are systemd.service for that

iptables stuff should be done by firewalld

and firewallctl

Humid hot is horrible. I loved in places like and hated it. A touch of randomness is always good, I agree. But Uruguay is a bit extreme and the British islands are even worse. You may leave home with a splendid sun and two hours later come back pouring water.

Oh, yeah! In Uruguay I got used to go around with an extra blazer or jacket (it's mostly windy and often may turn fresh even in hot days). In England I got used to go out with an umbrella and an extra jacket, just in case. In Germany I can look through the window and more or less that's going to be day's weather. A weather applet is also useful for the days to come, because temperatures vary from day to day.

As a general rule, places that are completely surrounded by land have more stable weather than places that are next to the sea or surrounded by ocean. Hence the difference. @Schyken

Is that all the storage you have? Make two partitions, one for /home and another for the filesystem.

Ah, makes sense. Haven't really lived in any of these places, so I've never experienced it. It does sound like it would take some getting used to. We've some advantage of being closer inland, and being surrounded by mountains.

A friend of mine who grew up in Scotland went once to play in the river a beautiful sunny hot day in midsummer. An hour later he came back home pouring water (he was in t-shirt and short pants). His mother was "How it went, dear?" "Rainy" I never been in Scotland but he says that's normal there.

Will make any bmw that supports it loud but rev up very quickly. But most of the time one can get a similar experience with kickdown - if you terroeize the gaspedal when you're standing by kicking it propeely bmw will kick you in the back for it and keep you deep in your seat.

Well his idea was to make his own infotainment system, and the car's stereo is part of that. So to completely replace the stock infotainment you'd have to somehow connect the speakers and what not to your custom system
