All in all, I don't mean to visit the Himalaya. Just going from a city to another avoiding the Autobahn.

Autobahn = German main highway

Just in case.

It's very easy to add a back up camera to your car too.

With a open sourced software everything become easier.

all you need is a raspberry pi
The cost of doing this could be pretty bad depending on the extent of upgrades required, to start.

There are no standards but a lot of them are available online already

What we need to do is splicing in to CANBUS, using Ethernet or LIN protocol just like Tesla

Laure

Basically when you press a button in your car, such as sport mode

It sends a code to computers

Via CANBUS

Autobahn has no speed limit, right?
That's correct. On the other hand, if you have an accident and were driving over 120km/h it will be your fault regardless how the accident happened. Also, not all the parts in the Autobahnen or speed limit free. In many tracts you have a huge banner warning of a limit for one reason or another, or none. Just because in the part you shouldn't drive too fast.

Kohane
03.12.2017
11:34:09
I don't know why people make such a fuss about the speed limit. In Uruguay (where I born) it's the same. There's no general max, but you have parts were there is a limit. So I don't see why all the exciment.

Over 130*
Yes, thank you. ?

Kohane

And compared to the Uruguayan, Brazilian & Argentinians, Germans drive slowly. Maybe not in the Autobahnen but in the rest of routes and inside cities/towns... they look like snails to someone used to the southern part of South America.

Well, most people I know really dislike speed limits and only follow them loosely :/
Yeah, I know. In Uruguay, they do their best not to follow them at all. Imagine the accidents rate...

Well, between 1 and 2 people died every day in traffic accidents in Uruguay. That was the rate when I left. It's probably slightly higher now.

Meh. Knowing them, they will find the way to sort it and put it to drive as fast as possible when no inspector/police is looking. Which means half of the country and most parts of the capital.

I rather hope for some miracle, let's say a crisis of fuel or something that will leave them with no cars at all, and force them to use bikes.

Oh, and of course, motorbikes drivers don't use helmets or protections of any kind, and way too often don't even use lights. "They are too expensive", according to them.

I doubt that that's going to happen, people are so used to going everywhere quickly, without doing exercise
I know. But it seems to be the only solution. There are no trains (except for cargo and some few towns), and buses aren't particularly safe. They're new and everything, but drivers are often overloaded with working hours and don't sleep enough. Thus provoking accidents themselves.

We've got everything from city police, county police, sheriffs, state troopers, US Marshalls, and because of our proximity to the border, large presence of border patrol and federal agents.

So it's hard to get away with much
