No, the only other ways to not download gdrive trough your browser are: using another browser on a server installing a sync client and adding the share to your gdrive using nextcloud to access your gdrive, on another server.

Google Drive can be tricky, yeah. But it's a side effect of how the platform itself works, and works well, might I add.

You're not intended to use something like wget to access files, it wasn't designed for that use case, but that doesn't mean they're denying you anything.

If you can afford the luxury of that. I mean i'd think of it as downgrade but if you want kde then ideally install the kde spin outright - altough the other method will also work.
