Someone else noticed that the wiki search is gone?

Sure I can use the search engine of my choice with site: prefix, but I would still enjoy having an internal search ._.

How are you going to do this if you're not an Ambassador yet?

You should install the last stable version, that is 27.

All that's needed for a request is username and email. For some reason nothing worked when I was filling the form, but did when he filled it. I'm still not sure why.

What do u mean
Your drive has 4 "sda" partitions.

That means you dont have one 200 GB drive. You have a terabyte drive.

Just with 4 partitions.

Which is kind of weird.

It'd be much more efficient to have one big C: and do proper folder management.

I've done this twice in the past week, and though I even checked the Windows partitioning in the installer and the installed OS, any other OS will read it as four partitions.

O_o After the installation or by default on laptops?
I think it's something to do with the way Windows sets it up to be honest. My theory is that the limit on MBR is four partitions, and so by allocating four partitions in some shape or form, there's nothing you can really do with it. ?

Interesting. When I've tried to use Win 10 (horrible 3 months, btw), I've only seen 2 usual partitions. But often when you buy a laptop, there are more of them for some recovery data.

But does it show only two partitions if you boot into something else? I'm curious. Maybe there's something else going on. Either way, it's a real pisser that this happens :(

Case 1: Installed by myself. GNU/Linux and partition software see two partitions, for C: and reserved. Windows shows only one (sometimes two, but I didn't get why) Case 2: Preinstalled (may vary). Sometimes it shows only one main partition, most likely it will show one main partition and another one — for recovery (created by vendor). By other distributions there can be shown 3 or 4 partitions: one more — reserved and fourth — have no idea what.

Ah, true. Usually the install of Windows that comes with it, while it has drivers and bloatware ready to go, is still poorly optimized for that hardware.

I had netbooks with that and even smaller storage. But they were provided by Public Education. I didn't pay for them. And yeah, I hated them.

The good thing about those netbooks is that they were hard as rocks. You could play football with them and still remain in working state.

I absolutely agree. A lot of this has to do with the cookie-cutter manufacturing process. Things are configured enough to work, but not always tuned to work as well as it should.

This isn't always the case, certain laptops are typically great ootb, but it's not as often as you'd hope :(

I bought a Toshiba laptop with Win8. I hated it. But it worked good with the hardware, very good actually. To be Windows. Eventually I screwed it and installed Win8.1, because of Photoshop. It didn't work as good. But I guess that's an exception. That was one of my most loved laptops really. It lasted ages with Fedora, comfy kb, sturdy, fast. Almost perfect.

The download button should give you the ISO, not the media writer ?
Yeah, that happened to me too, and it's annoying. It should be the ISO and from a separated button, Media Writer.

Fedora doesn't have a directory listing, where it list isos of several versions?
Like Debian you mean? No. It hasn't. But there are colourful buttons for you to click if you want something else that is not Workstation.
