Is an old Athlon XP 2200+ still good for anything? I got one of those, the mobo is utter crap (PC Chips with SiS chipset), but it works

it has an 80GB hard drive and 1.2GB of RAM

If I don't find any use for it I'll just make a small case for the CPU and turn it into a keychain

Try the fedora lxde. It should run super smooth. Use the PC as torrent downloader or tmp file server or something

I installed Xfce out of habit, it struggles (even without composing) because the video driver has barely any acceleration. I guess I'll try LXDE, and then some server stuff

Best way upgrade from terminal http://www.tecmint.com/upgrade-fedora-23-to-fedora-24-workstation/

There is a conference fee, but it's not mandatory.

We suggest a payment of € 15 for students, € 40 for hobbyist and € 150 for professionals. Pay over 100 € and receive a free conference t-shirt.

Thx everyone, I'll start the upgrade in half an hour, I'll keep you informed if something goes wrong.
Well, I finished installing F24, no big issues. I had to reinstall Nvidia drivers, again... and I'm unable to start the teamviewer daemon and had a few extensions disabled. Apart from that everything is ok

Yes dual boot

Montemayor
29.06.2016
20:00:38
you'll need to install windows first, and afaik you need to install them both in the same SDD, so that you can dualboot easily through grub, otherwise youll need to manually F12 everytime you turn on the computer

Unless someone knows a better way, from what I read and the mistakes I did, I found this the better way to get them both running smoothly

J

20:11:23
So you think it is better to have both on them on 1 SSD?

I could be wrong, but yes, from what I've read and personal experience, it is the best way to dual boot windows and any linux distro. I'm waiting on any of the other 340 persons to prove me wrong haha

Saw bunch of you upgrading to F24... I just stick with F23 for couple of month. My system are running well and has lot of custom libs and programming stuff. Just to minimize any risk of crash.. Our telegram group also became larger. I promote this TG everywhere. I notice most of people came from my link. Good to have own large community on real time discussion.. A dozen of member here are my friend from Malaysia, Where in Malaysia..most of linux user using ubuntu and arch. Now, I want to spark the Fedorian spirit on them to give a try and trust using fedora.. hopefully they will move and stick using Fedora. I also involved with fedora project, need to learn bunch of thing. But enjoy the thrill... ❤️

Hello. I have Fedora on my SSD and i want to add another SSD and install Windows 10 on it. What steps should I do? Thanks in advance :)
Take out SSD with Fedora and place blank SSD.. just let the system have only one SSD. now, install windows on SSD (just windows os, save you time for drive and apps later) after successfully installed Windows on that SSD, shutdown and place back the Fedora SSD. Now with 2 SSD right? boot with Fedora live and mount the windows disk.. then isntall bootloader.. restart. Now you should have dual boot. This is from my experience. Not in details, but the theory are there.. Hope this will be usefull..

Try research and review some tutorial how to install windows after ubuntu. It should have same procedure.. http://bfy.tw/6W81

Just run sudo grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg or if you have EFI feature with you computer, please run sudo grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/efi/EFI/fedora/grub.cfg command, make sure you know which command to execute.

Don't install software by downloading rpm, always use repos that are compatible with your release.

Yes, you can download an "rpm" package, and use dnf to install it. I use this method as I don't have a stable internet connection.
