Yash

Yes
Because i can access my internet when im on Windows
And when i run Fedora live i get this problem

Sachin S.

08:53:54
That doesn't make it a switch.

Does it show "8.8.8.8" as dns? if not, edit and add 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 in the dns section, switch the box next to dns off and apply. then reconnect.

And yes thats definitely a router/appliance stuffs - the problem is likely that your isp cant setup a network if his life depended on it or you have done something on windows to fake your mac address maybe?

Sachin S.
17.09.2017
08:59:31
Also, it's highly unlikely your ISP gave you a 'switch' for personal use.

Tobias?

And holy fucl were they retarded back then - routers and foreign devices were forbidden so i had to register my pc, put a there instead in "full nat, never let any broadcast in or out" mode with the faked mac.

What wasnt decent was "drop all input" and "drop udp except 53" because of scared investors fearing torrents and us hosting servers and so.

Sachin S.

"drop udp except 53 and drop input" is the standard university thing.

Isn't that strange?

Tobias?

PPPoE \o/
I only do that on my firewall. 0 idea if fedora has that hidden anywhere.

Sachin S.
17.09.2017
09:22:50
You should probably talk to your ISP. This is by far the worst ISP setup I've seen.

Tobias?
17.09.2017
09:23:06
For that... are you really sure you never ever put in a username in any way shape or form.
PPPoE tends to need usernames and passwords to authenticate you against your ISP and in turn be billed properly. You should let a router/firewall handle that usually tough.

Sachin S.
17.09.2017
09:24:21
Did the ISP do some magic on your PC? This adapter seems to be configured.
Find the PPP adapter in your Network control panel and view the properties. The PPPoE credentials should be available somewhere there.
