I think he's just hitting a limit on resolution
No, i think the packed in qxl driver is too old.

Going trough the mailing list i found someone that found 2k/4k available as resolution with a newer qxl driver on debian which ubuntu doesnt pack in still.

Google

Hi everybody! Has anybody ever experienced issues dual booting fedora 26 with Windows 10? Is it better installing both OSs in legacy mode or uefi?

Tobias?
09.09.2017
13:54:23
But aside that uefi should be fine - but you can one up this if you have two gpus (an iGPU and dGpu would be fine too)

for me windows creates its own
Yes. in the same fat32 /boot/efi partition as your linux will.

its just a stub to load grub but windows 10 has been shown to overwrite it.

if its the other way around, fedora will use your windows recovery partition

Tobias?
09.09.2017
13:57:17
The other way around is the usual way to also get grub and that can result in windows 10 killing your boot record.

Kawaii
09.09.2017
13:57:27
and windows wont touch that unless you install another windows partition

id rather it didnt

dont want grub on my uefi system

just the normal uefi menu

grub just slows boot times

Google

And what does that call?

grub just slows boot times
disable it waiting at all then. :P

Kawaii
09.09.2017
13:59:19
And what does that call?
well it could just bootstrap the os directly

grub isnt a necessity

Tobias?

It doesnt unless you work around with system-d and gummiboot or something.

Eh, despite all this i'd much rather jail my windows where it belongs. In a juicy vga passtrough vm. :3

Knowing Windows i'd hold a recovery usb ready at all times in dualboot.

And thats why jailing.

Most dont. But the ones that get hit are usually the ones that just had wiped their recovery stick for important business presentations. XD

hey guys!

The tricky question again: what about nvidai drivers on Fedora 26 KDE?

I know GNOME presents it on the store once you install a reposiry and makes it easier to install, but what about other distros?

I don't think the drivers are any different for other desktop environments.

The drivers are low-level software, independent of desktop environment. If GNOME presents them to you, it's likely because you have a third-party repository already enabled that has them.

For example, I use Negativo's NVIDIA driver on my desktop, although I haven't had access to my desktop in nine months…

Yeah, I mean what about installation? Do I still need to do all the steps like in this tuto: https://rpmfusion.org/Howto/NVIDIA Or is there anything easier than that?

Another thing I was wondering is about the differences between using proprietary, RPM Fusion or Negativo17..

I read something about proprietary version doesn't updation with the system, That the user should update it manually each time

But between the other 2, I see no difference ?

My understanding is that RPMFusion and Negativo add nice packaging for the NVIDIA proprietary driver that NVIDIA doesn't offer (but really should). RPMFusion and Negativo are essentially the same, except the way they package the driver is different. In Fedora 23 or 24, the RPMFusion broke for me and Negativo's worked.

Why? That's a great question! I don't know. ?

I think Negativo tries very hard to follow Fedora packaging standards
