IDK. Better to ask from a professional.

I mean free as in freedom
I think that's not the point of the name

I think that's not the point of the name
U mean freebsd has binary blobs
🇵🇸🍉
I don't belive what fsf or gnu say about freebsd
🇵🇸🍉
But i don't think they include binary blobs
🇵🇸🍉
Why would they?
accelerat0r 🇮🇱 🇮🇱 🇮🇱
the gnu approach is a religion
Anonymous
I don't belive what fsf or gnu say about freebsd
I think Gnu/Linux distributions had Binary BLOB as well. (I'm not sure )
r2g2
the system comes without binary blobs
r2g2
eg wifi firmware, nvidia gpu drivers, intel/amd microcode binaries
Anonymous
It deeply depends on what you mean by binary blobs
r2g2
though some drivers of the OS are binary blobs
Anonymous
though some drivers of the OS are binary blobs
The driver someone assume as blob is just useful for someone else .
🇵🇸🍉
I think Gnu/Linux distributions had Binary BLOB as well. (I'm not sure )
There is different between the distributor adding binary blobs to the system and me adding binary blobs to MY system
🇵🇸🍉
🇵🇸🍉
I belive that openbsd don't include any binary blobs but idk about freebsd
r2g2
no sorry, some drivers contain binaries

Installed by default or in repo?
Yes - https://github.com/freebsd/freebsd-src/tree/main/sys/contrib/dev/iwm

By default
ɴꙩᴍᴀᴅ
Yep. As said before, @ultrasigma0 let's discuss all this blob thing with various systems over the @freebsd_offtopics
ɴꙩᴍᴀᴅ
Alright, let's keep that offtopic, and please treat each other with respect (:

Guys is the amd hd 8490 supported ? I have mixed information. Cannot really see it on the radeon supported card list
Anonymous
Go to TTY. and check logs.
I added a line kern.evdev.rcpt_mask=6 To /etc/sysctl.conf According to an installer message . Can it be the reason
Anonymous
Go to TTY. and check logs.
Which log I should check
accelerat0r 🇮🇱 🇮🇱 🇮🇱
Test yourself. You can submit on the list if it works or not.
Lol .. well I guess I will need to buy it anyway following that recomendation
Anonymous
Which log I should check
dmesg(8) and check the contents of /var/log/ directory. And you can disable Slim, and run it manually to see the logs.
Anonymous
Have you check bsd-hardware.info?
accelerat0r 🇮🇱 🇮🇱 🇮🇱
OH, I thought you have that HW.
No. Just looking at one first from the supported list

Stop devd service, and run it manually.

And check devd's logs.

Hello, I need to restart *TTY* on ttyv0, on linux I used to restart it by restarting the getty@tty1 service, any alternative on freebsd ? Thanks. If this question is not appropriate, feel free to delete it.
Anonymous
check getty process via ps axfww |grep getty and kill -9 <pid_of_ttyv0_getty>
Why not just pgrep -l -f getty instead of ps axfww | grep getty?
