Hi, can someone confirm if a RAID Controller PERC H750 Works in FreeBSD ?
Anonymous
I made a RSS channel to receive news of the oficial website and the reddit page of Freebsd https://t.me/freebsdrss
r
That's not a RSS
Anonymous
r
I already did it

FreeBSD Developer Summit- RISC V Mitchell Horne discusses the latest developments of FreeBSD on RISC-V.
Also, wanted to give a "❤️", but reactions are not enabled, admins, halp!
r
Oh, so you're using a bot to repost stuff that it receives through the RSS feed. Not quite a real RSS, but yeah, does the job.

Oh thanks Mrs. Obvious

Chill out, it's not a fight

Capsicum is brilliant. A shame I only got to know about it this year.

It's a bsd disklabel. Kind of like a virtual partition table that FreeBSD understands. I think nowadays you can do without a disklabel and use only GPT partitions, especially if you're using ZFS. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BSD_disklabel
stéphane T
If you know more Linux install it is like the extended partition, you can have only up to 4 native partitions, but can have many logical ones inside a native ‘extended’ one
stéphane T
And yes this is a MBR disk schema, if you’re on GPT you can have all in native

I guess wireguard should handle it. Try OpenConnect or SoftEther VPN tools if WG doesn't do it. I don't know about any other tool
ɴꙩᴍᴀᴅ
Thank you. I will try both tools to see if they work.
Great, let me know about the results. I've got a protonvpn account too but never got the time to test it out in FreeBSD

It worked very well on fbsd, until a couple of days ago. I suspect that pvpn changed/removed something on their side.

I don't think so, at least natively. You could try with Linuxlator, or inside a jail maybe

Qualcomm Atheros QCA6174 Wireless driver is still not supported by FreeBSD. right ? Does anybody have this Wireless Adapter?
Which FreeBSD derived distro do you consider to be the most polished and reliable? The best overall experience.

ghost is a good option ! dont use that myself
https://freebsdfoundation.org/freebsd-project/resources/guide-to-freebsd-desktop-distributions/ From these descriptions, very hard to make a conclusion.
I'm new to the Unix world. I'm looking for the most usable and practicle distro.
Joey
practical for what?
Joey
servers? desktops/laptops? gaming? throwing out of windows when you can't get it to work?
accelerat0r 🇮🇱 🇮🇱 🇮🇱
I guess he is refering to desktop
accelerat0r 🇮🇱 🇮🇱 🇮🇱
in my opinion that's kind of tricky
Joey
the best hand-holdy distro is opensuse

kali it's got all the stuff ya never knew existed
Joey
does kali still log you in as root on the desktop?
Joey
...so's all them things you never knew about can actually run, since the scanning tools require root?
Anonymous
idk i still use a user i'll try next time.
Anonymous
ex : etherape runs as root but you can set it for regular users.
Joey
I hate sudo, but hey, if it claims to be a security distro, surely do the stuff via sudo
Joey
...but for a while at least it was requiring X as root :-/
Anonymous
😂😂😂 but sudo is so ubuntu
Joey
it is
Anonymous
I dont ever remember having to be root to run GUI
Joey
I'm spouting second-hand info, I might be mistaken
Anonymous
for root to logon into to gui forward x thru ssh
Anonymous
or host +x ??
Joey
ssh -Y localhost
Joey
root@localhost anyway
Anonymous
ssh -Y localhost
if that's without addition conf ... i'll have to try it.

@Xava: you can try GhostBSD/FreeBSD in a virtual machine. I tested GhostBSD in a VM and is easy to use for those that are trying for the 1st time FreeBSD(not an expert in FreeBSD). Ghost in coming with Mate as a default desktop.

Hi, I'm using FreeBSD as my home router, which is using pppoe as WAN connection and dhcp6c to get IPv6 prefix for internal network. Now I'm experiencing some problem that my internal hosts can't access some web sites via IPv6, but FreeBSD server itself has no such issue. According to tcpdump/Wireshark, it looks like the TLS Server Hello (length 1514) was corrupted. Maybe someone could provide some hint on what the issue is, or how to do trouble shooting? Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thank you.
Joey
I don't know enough about IPv6 to even guess if it can be NATted

sway wm it's beautiful on freeBSD 😂😂
