Sure but for logs use a pastebin like service like https://bsd.to/ or https://dpaste.org/ in order to maintain readability and avoid huge messages (:
Sure😊i usually just select the information I want via screenshot snippet tool. My wine games work, FalloutNV just lags like crazy when entering combat🤔

Hey guys. What's up? Anyone tried this script on a FreeBSD base (and not TrueOS)? https://github.com/ghostbsd/ghostbsd-build/blob/master/script/mkisoimages.sh

D3D is DirectX which is Microsoft graphics library. In *nix systems, Steam uses proton and DxVK stuff to make them work somehow. If the game you are trying to run was designed for Windows, then first check protondb in order to know if it works at all on Linux, and if so you keep the efforts on making it run inside FBSD. Being honest, I'm not into gaming at all but I do have some titles I played a decade ago that from time to time I like to revisit, and I have a Debian machine to do that. It removes a lot of headaches

It's a sh script. It should work on a FreeBSD base. Check if the tools called inside are installed first
Ah I didn't see that it comes from /usr/src/release of FreeBSD itself. I still have my very very old question in mind, which is about making a custom FreeBSD image with the needed software pre-installed. For more information, I read bsdinstal(8) and release(7) docs and couldn't find my answers.

You have to choose one of the commands. The first one is quicker, way quicker to install
Kalinvalas
the second command does the same as the first?
Kalinvalas
No

In the second command you're compiling Xorg in addition to installing
XADE
the second command does the same as the first?
it compiles xorg & will take long
ɴꙩᴍᴀᴅ

The second command does the same as the first, but it compiles Xorg from source before installing it
Kalinvalas
I already thought I was doing bullshit
ɴꙩᴍᴀᴅ
Oh, I didn't notice SCO message. Yeah my network is slow today
ɴꙩᴍᴀᴅ
TLDR if you use the $ pkg install command you'll get the programs installed earlier. Using the ports collection allows you to install programs offline, and to tweak configuration settings which sometimes are required for your machine, but it will compile every program and tool needed that the make command can't find installed
ɴꙩᴍᴀᴅ
So it's a good advice to use ports only if you need to
ɴꙩᴍᴀᴅ
You can test your CPU power too by trying to compile Firefox or Chromium :P
ɴꙩᴍᴀᴅ
I have AMD Athlon
Please don't, I was joking hehe. It will take too long (more than a day I will say)
XADE
ports r recommended when u want 1. pkgs not available in repo but port 2. flexibility or have specific needs

Ufs or zfs ?
XADE
if u want to create a installer, which u'll have to boot & click or run commands to install instead of simply cp then idk, may be u can find some tools to generate iso

if I connect my disk from FreeBSD to another PC, provided that its architecture is the same as my PC, but a different video card, will I need to install other drivers? Or does my shell booth work?
ɴꙩᴍᴀᴅ
I won't consider that good practice but you can try
ɴꙩᴍᴀᴅ
Which cards are them? If they are same vendor maybe the driver still work
Kalinvalas
But school pc videocard i don't know
ɴꙩᴍᴀᴅ
Try installing FreeBSD in a usb drive without GUI and then you'll have a portable installation. And if you want Xorg, try going with standard mesa drivers

Sooo Nvidia drivers on my pc don't work on other pc?
No, nvidia drivers should be able to work on all Nvidia GPUs If you have for example Intel HD graphics, you need to install the driver for those

If you have no idea with that is and how it may impact you — better don't change anything.

I don't think cups is actually mandatory to print.

But some software requires it.
Kalinvalas
Ohh, okay, if necessary I will install later
