Hi, is possibile to define rule signature of the payload content in ipfw or pf, like iptables in Linux?
Vincenzo
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/43135328/iptables-with-regex-url-matching I would something like this (not for url specifically)
kelewind
pf does not support L7 filters. It's proof of concept - not application firewall

any solution so, ipfw or other solution in freebsd? Is my goal to discard packets based on rules (protocol, port, payload)

filtering by port and protocol can be done by pf. no filtering by links ( http uri )
Vincenzo
Too bad it' can't be for payload content, thank you

anyway to set audio volume to 150%?

anyway to set audio volume to 150%?
If your name is Lennart Poettering, sure.
g
any way to do it in lets say firefox in software?
Arminio
The idea of a 100% value is that it’s the maximum. It’s that easy. Anything above that will possibly lead to distortion, so that’s a very discouraged thing to do. With pulseaudio you can actually do that, yes, it’s quite a terrible thing to do and only meant for use on undersized laptop speakers.
g
yeah my lappy aint loud enough
g
idk about distortion i just wanna hear it
g
pulseaudio did it fine
g
but i moved to freebsd in part to get away from pottering's software
Arminio
Well if you’re using pulseaudio you can do that, but keep in mind it will very likely lead to distortion.
g
i would not like to ever touch pulseaudio again
Arminio
Completely understandable. Don’t get me started on Poetterware.

Maybe sysctl hw.snd.vpc_0db=1 is what you need?
TheWhyteCrow
Default value is 45 on my laptop. Try to set it on yours.
g
1 = same as max

Since virt-manager wasn’t available for the Mac I just set up a tiny VirtualBox VM I access via Firefox and noVNC

Works nicely

FWIW in case you’re still looking for a nice terminal font, the JetBrains Mono font is super great for being used in terminals, too
Arminio
I highly recommend that one
g
i usually use comic sans
Arminio
haha
g
but i havent had time to install it yet
g
id get comic sans mono but money nd i cant find a ttf of it anywhere
Arminio
lmao :)
Krond
+1 to JetBrains Mono, spent years on DejaVu and finally another good font appears.
Krond
I guess there's a way to use any font as monospaced, I'm not sure how to do that. Unicode has a hint making any glyph fixed width
Arminio
Terminus - the only!
Yup, been using Terminus for a very long time, but recently came to love antialiased fonts. :)
g
TIL you can use cat on a dir

Hi🐰

I am actually a GNU/Linux user and always use GPL licenses at my projects but I gave a try to NomadBSD and liked it.

So NomadBSD is designed to be installed on USB stick, rather than the actual SSD/HDD?
Geld [0/4💉] 🇵🇸 تحيا فلسطين
no....ther's optio to install to hd
Well, of course. But they state on the website that it is OK to use with a usb disk. Very well, I think it's a nice idea especially to test the hardware (no?)
τaπ
It needs more apps at the repositories but I use software from the source code anyway.

Its designed to be a persistent live image but it has setup option as well.

Great. I'll definitely try it later on, once I buy a proper USB instead of the "cheap no-name thumb drives they sell at super markets and drug stores."(quote from the website :P)

I have seen it in the latest video of Explainingcomputers, seen that BSD can use themes and icons made for GNU/Linux. https://youtu.be/NM0oou1KYY8
